The Communications Workers of America (CWA) today announced their support of Tom Perriello’s campaign for Governor of Virginia.
“When our members at AT&T recently went out on strike, Tom Perriello was the only candidate for Governor to call and ask how he could help,” said Richard Hatch, President of the CWA Virginia State Council and Local 2201 in Richmond. “He took time out of a busy campaign schedule to join our fight - for good jobs, fair wages, and decent benefits – because these are exactly the types of issues that make a real difference in the lives of working families across the Commonwealth.”
“Tom Perriello’s dedication to working families is unparalleled,” said Chuck Simpson, President of CWA Local 2204 in Roanoke and Vice-President of the CWA Virginia State Council. “He has stood with us, and with all hard-working Virginians, time and again to protect our rights and our livelihoods.”
"I am proud to have the support of CWA and other great unions across Virginia that fight for working families,” said Tom Perriello. “The working men and women of organized labor and I share a commitment to good, secure careers for Virginians that lead to the middle class, pay a living wage, and guarantee affordable health care. During my term as Governor, we will fight together to protect workers’ rights, and promote an economy that leaves no region or race behind."
The Communications Workers of America represent more than 700,000 workers across the United States. The CWA Virginia State Association is comprised of 15 local labor unions representing nearly ten thousand hardworking men and women in the Telecommunications, Airlines, Manufacturing, Printing and Public Safety Industries in Virginia.
